Qld: Package opened, nothing dangerous

BRISBANE, Aug 4 AAP - A package found abandoned in a Gold Coast street contained nothing
dangerous, police said today.

Police cordoned off an area around Minnie Street at Southport after a passerby spotted
the package.

The police bomb squad was called in and people were evacuated from the area as experts
moved in to open the package.

It was found not to contain explosives or anything dangerous.

Police did not say what it contained but said it was nothing suspicious.

The area has been re-opened to traffic.
