WASHINGTON -- Facing a possible defeat in the House of Representatives, Republicans on Thursday postponed a vote on a bill to redesign Head Start, the popular preschool program for children in poverty.
Key Republicans said the delay on the controversial bill was due to scheduling difficulties and a low turnout expected today among Republicans. They vowed to bring the bill back for a vote next week, when more members would be available to vote.
